This is simply the best-looking iPod
Indeed the best-looking MP3 player we've ever laid eyes on. The Touch 4G is even thinner than its predecessors – any bulges have been eradicated to leave a sheer
Smooth device. The new Retina Display that it shares with the iPhone 4 is just as stunning with its crisp

The editors didn't like
Bottom mounted headphone socket annoying
The camera comes without a flash
TN screen
Not IPS like on the iPhone 4
Low resolution on the screen
Headphones need replacing
Facetime is a mess
No GPS
Camera quality not great
Scratches easily
No Siri voice-control
It’s still no iPhone
Still need to use iTunes
Can't play common file formats
Specs looking out of date
Back attracts fingerprints & scratches
It's not an iPhone
Rubbish camera
No FM radio or GPS
Reliance on iTunes
The camera is not the same as the iPhone 4's
The camera on the new iPod touch is still a touch disappointing. Stills top out at a maximum of 960×720
So you won't be replacing your cam with these just yet. And the fixed focus doesn’t help matters. The maximum capacity is a mere 64GB
So this is not for audiophiles. And the lack of FLAC support may put them off too. But then
This isn't a device designed for the audiophile market.
No FM radio
Still camera poor compared to iPhone 4
No GPS hardware.
Top end model is a lot of money
No Flash video support
FaceTime
Though excellent
Is of limited use
Lo-res stills capture. Not much AirPlay-compatible kit available at launch. Viewing angle not as good as iPhone 4. Bundled buds are bin bound
Rather expensive entrylevel model
Lightning connector compatibility issues
Price
Camera offering a little lacklustre
New design isn't as comfortable as the last version
Thinnest and lightest iPhone Touch ever, A4 processor makes it superfast
The camera comes without a flash
Very much a downgraded iPhone 4 and incorporating some of the best technologies from the iPhone 4 such as FaceTime and Retina display, it is a seriously impressive piece of kit and is an all-in-one mobile entertainment device without call capabilities. Th...

There was no way we had room in this review to mention everything the iPod touch does. We haven't even touched on features like Internet browsing, email, maps and the gazillions of apps that totally transform what it's capable of, for example. We're rea...
Wafer-thin body; editable playlists; faster camera
Scratches easily; no Siri voice-control; it’s still no iPhone
We're smitten with the latest version of the iPod touch on almost every level. Additions such as Photo Stream and the editable playlists really enhance the player's usability, while iCloud addresses some of the ‘tied to iTunes' concerns we've raised in th...

Lots of features, Facetime available without 3G, Decent processor does a good job, Reasonable quality audio
TN screen, not IPS like on the iPhone 4, Low resolution on the screen, Headphones need replacing
There aren't many revolutionary new features on this latest iPod touch. It's a good product overall, but both the screen and the camera left us disappointed....
The new iPod Touch has improved music playback quality and the revised battery should deliver 40 hours of music or seven hours of video. You need to use iTunes to handle your media and that's not a fun experience but the hardware is a joy to use and th...
