The editors liked

  • Full HD
  • Great shots
  • Easy to use
  • The VContour is not simply able to shoot film in impressive Full HD 1920 x 1080p at 30 frames per second
  • But also a range of other formats so that footage can be tailored to specific needs. Want slo-mo? Switch to 720p at 60 fps and the results are dream-...

The editors didn't like

  • No viewfinder
  • Need to sort settings on PC
  • Sadly
  • There's no Viewfinder on the VContour
  • Which is a bit of a drag when framing shots. Also
  • To tweak all your shooting configs
  • The cam needs to be connected via USB to your Mac or PC. Not ideal if you're in the great outdoors.

  • The ContourHD has made great improvements in video resolution (As of writing a new 1080p model has been released) but unfortunately has failed to really take audio along for the ride. Sure, the audio gain adjustment is a good start but ultimately is...

  • Abstract:  The Short Version: The ContourHD 1080p is a capable, semi-rugged, conveniently-shaped HD camcorder that’s great for all kinds of sporting and active events where a full-size camera isn’t practical. The 1080p video has admirable still image quality, but...

  • The ContourHD records high-definition video at 720p. Laser sights and a rotating lens help to aim the camera while mounted without the need for a viewfinder. Simple, one-handed operation and the included 2GB microSD card and rechargeable battery make t...
  • The unit is not waterproof or submersible. Low-light performance is poor.
  • While not as rugged as its competition, the ContourHD features video quality and user-friendliness that is far better than any other helmet cam that we've tested. Read full review See all prices

  • This helmet cam is great for shooting mountain bike or skateboarding shenanigans, especially if you can steady the camera a bit – a snug helmet mount will work better than the handlebars. Although some sort of steadying device would help a lot, sinc...

  • Stunning image quality. Record/Stop slider switch is easy to operate, even with gloves on. Accepts up to 16 GB of microSD storage, and a 2gig card is included. Laserassisted aiming. Hell, yeah.
  • With no LCD, you cant review what youve shot until you jack into a computer—a problem for long trips. Video quality suffers noticeably in low light. At speeds above 30 mph, the microphone listens only to the wind.

  • Abstract:  Here it is, action sport stars, some real POV footage taken with the VholdR ContourHD instead of the garbage office tour I took earlier in the week. Turn down the volume on your speakers! I’ve included the video that’s currently live on VholdR’s site ...
