  • F/2.0-f/3.9 lens with 5x optical zoom, Simple to understand menu system, Very good image quality
  • Heavy for a compact, Balance isn't great, Button layout could be better
  • Canon's PowerShot G1X Mark II is a substantial compact camera that can't easily fit in your pocket. It's a good shooter, though, and it gives you the choice to either take advantage of its extensive scene modes, or to wrestle with the exposure settings yo...

  • The big sensor, small pixel count, modest zoom and optically brilliant lens altogether make for images unlike other compacts can produce. Dynamic range is wide; resolved detail is sparkling and the ISO sensitivity can be set up to 3200 with good results.
  • Does it really need to be this heavy? The WiFi connectivity with a smartphone is pretty crude compared with the competitors' apps, but you do at least get basic tethering and zoom control
  • The G1X is a unique camera. It has fewer pixels on a larger sensor than any other compact, a combination that serious photographers have longed for. Canon has taken a bold step away from the pixel race and selling-by-numbers - good! The relatively short z...

  • Small size, large sensor, Touchscreen, Builtin WiFi
  • High price, No viewfinder
  • The premium compact camera market is an interesting place to be right now. This seems to be a genuinely decent piece of kit which I can see a lot of photographers being tempted by, especially those who are loyal to the Canon brand. By keeping the same se...

  • The Canon Powershot G1x Mark II's true asset is its lens. The lens is very fast with larger aperture. The sensor size is about 20% smaller than an APSC sensor but is decent. The RX100 also has a similar sensor, 1 inch in size. The camera also has a featur...
