TestSeek's Expert Reviews Summary
Staff at TestSeek has read all the expert reviews (so you don't have to) for this product and written a summary of what the editors think about the product.
On a first glance, the Can9on Powershot SX10 IS appears as a complex or sophisticated piece of equipment. With a 20x optical zoom, a 10 megapixel sensor, and a 2.5 inch flipout LCD twirl screen, it is a perfect choice for most photographers. It has an AA battery system, stereo quality sound for movies and an expressive screen. The SX10 IS gives a much wider and lengthier shot with a 28-560mm range installed. It also has a DIGIC 4 processor with a H.246 codec for video storage.
The camera also consists of a face-recognition software with an extra self-timer option which makes use of the face-detection while focusing is done. Shadowy images can be recreated using an enhanced i-Contrast feature which is enabled in the SX10 IS. The shutter-lag is very slight, with a receptive zoom system; and saving high resolution images takes below one second.
The editors liked

The editors didn't like
Poor battery life
Bulkier than others in its range
Not very compact
Lack of HD movies.
TestSeek's Conclusion
The Canon Powershot SX10 IS is not equipped to handle a through professional shooting set. It does not have an imager capable of high contrast issues, which leads to blowouts very often. It can be concluded that this is a camera purely for amateurs, and for those who do not feel that image resolution is the only thing that matters.

Abstract: The Canon Powershot SX10is is canons leading \"ultra zoom\" P&S digicam. It has a 10MP 1/2.3\" CCD image sensor (6.16mm x 4.62mm). The Powershot SX10is features an Image Stabilized lens which is equivalent to a 28-560mm zoom on a full frame 35mm camer...
Abstract: Last September, Canon announced two new 10-megapixel PowerShot SX-series digicams: the SX1 IS and the SX10 IS. The PowerShot SX10 IS has many of the features of the SX1 IS model (which we have already reviewed) but uses a CCD sensor instead of a CMOS c...
Electronic viewfinder lacks detail and precision, Average battery life, Tends to overexpose shots
With a huge 20x optical zoom, the SX10 will win over those photographers who dont want the bulk of a dSLR but like the flexibility of different lens lengths. The electronic viewfinder and lacklustre LCD screen detract from the overall package though....
A fair bit of chromatic aberration, colours a little too strongly saturated
Another impressive entry into the mega-zoom market, Canon’s PowerShot SX10 IS captures good if not incredible snaps and offers a huge wide-angle zoom lens along with manual features. It’s a compelling option for more experienced users. ...
Excellent image quality, High zoom with great IS, Great video mode, Stereo audio recording, Tilt-N-Swivel screen
Heavy with 4 AA batteries, High image noise after ISO 400, Unoptimized night snapshot preset
ConclusionRs. 25,000 seems a bit too high for a non-DLSR digital camera, but considering that this is one camera that does it all, you do get your moneys worth. Excellent image quality, fast performance, and features that give you a major advantage in...
