  • Aesthetically Pleasing, Small Compact Design, Excellent Build Quality
  • Lacks in Overclock Performance, Subjective Color Choice on the Fans
  • We feel that both coolers performed good and are aesthetically pleasing, while they lack a little bit in the overclocking sector they were designed as smaller coolers so we aren't going to ding Noctua much on this end. In terms of pricing, we found the...

  • Abstract:  Somewhere along the line, heatsink manufacturers decided to toss volumetric size restrictions out the window. Consumers now frequently fawn over utterly gigantic CPU coolers that are quiet and cool extremely well, but don't really fit inside anything less than an E-ATX case. The other half of the problem with big heatsinks is that motherboard makers only have so much wiggle room with respect to where they can locate the CPU socket and memory slots. Sooner or later, these three volumetric spaces overlap and the headaches start... I'm sure many of you have faced the situation where a new heatsink forces you to sacrifice half the memory slots or downgrade to IGP graphics just to get the computer up and running!...

  • Abstract:  We test and review two new coolers from Noctua, the NH-D9L and NH-U9S CPU coolers. These small puppies can be used with any motherboard but focus on Micro ATX and Mini ITX. They are small, deadly silent but do pack enough punch to even cool a Core i7 4790...

  • Abstract:  Noctua sent two of their new 92 mm heatsinks to Overclockers — the NH-D9L and the NH-U9S. They appear to be mighty little beasts. Let's have a look.At the end of last year, Noctua released three 92mm heatsinks. The NH-D9DX i4 3U, “targets Intel Xeon LGA20...

  • Great performance, Easy installation, Quiet operation, Can add a second fan, No clearance issues at all
  • None that I found
  • When it comes to performance the NH-U9S performed at the top of the air coolers we have tested lately, even with the low noise adapter in use the cooler had very respectable performance. If you wanted to add even more performance you can add a second NF-A...

  • about the Noctua NH-U9SIt should be clear by now that when it comes to functional design even a seemingly small change can have major effects in performance. I am not talking about a butterfly effect here but in a more practical local way. The NH-U9S is...

  • Abstract:  The U9S features a single fin-stack while the D9L and D9DX feature double fin-stacks. The double fin-stack models are actually identical except for their mounting hardware: The D9L is meant to mount on standard Intel and AMD motherboards while the NH-D...

  • Build Quality, Small Size (no clearance issues), Excellent Performance (for its size), Noise Levels, Dual Fan Solution, Socket Compatibility, Bundle, 6 Years Warranty,  ,
  • Price (For Some),
  • After we wrapped up all our tests it was quite clear that we should had tested the NH-U9S with our Intel Core i5 3770k test rig but since we didn't have access to it at this time we had to go with our primary Intel Core i7 3930k test rig. However the fact...
