Fantastic price to capacity value, Great performance, even after NAND is exhausted, $0.04 per gig, Nearly silent operation
Some potential possibly lost due to slower rotational velocity?, 8GB NAND is too small for modern gaming
The Seagate 4TB SSHD is an incredible price to capacity value proposition. While the 8GB of NAND is certainly undersized for modern gaming, the drive performs very well even when that memory is exhausted
Better performance than traditional HDDs, Hot files stored in 8GB NAND flash, Good performance during mix workloads
Performed well under the WD Blue during HTPC real-world benchmarks
The Seagate Desktop SSHD is a good performing hybrid drive that offers consumers 8GB of NAND flash for increased overall system performance as well as a high capacity point.Seagate 4TB SSHD at AmazonDiscuss this review GA_googleFillSlot("sr_lower_728");GA...

Abstract: I'm constantly asked about Hybrid HDDs for Mac Pros as well as older MacBook Pros. Though we have posted Hybrid notebook drive results before, I decided to revisit this query by testing a 3.5" Hybrid HDD compared to a regular HDD, Fusion Drive, and Solid...
Abstract: The latest piece of hardware up for testing at Phoronix is the Seagate ST1000DX001, a 1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive (SSHD) that retails for less than $100 USD. But how well does this 1TB hard drive that has 8GB of MLC flash memory work with Linux? Let's fi...
The Desktop SSHD is a direct translation of Seagate's notebook hybrid tech, and in some ways, that's a good thing. The fact that Adaptive Memory manages the cache entirely at the drive level makes the SSHD compatible with any operating system. There's no...
