The editors liked

  • Great performance
  • Silent operation
  • Low power consumption
  • Suited for up to 8-bays
  • 8TB Capacity
  • 10TB Capacity
  • We keep going on about the storage as 10TB in a single hard drive is incredibly impressive
  • So if you're looking for a hard drive to store all of your important data
  • This is the one to go for. If you think 10TB is too much
  • It also comes in other capacit
  • Huge capacity
  • Antivibration technologies
  • By SSD standards
  • Its cheap

The editors didn't like

  • None
  • “The Seagate NAS HDD 8TB is without a doubt the best storage drive that we have tested to date. It has a solid performance while staying inaudible even during operation.”
  • Seagate NAS 8TB (ST8000VN0002) Hard Disk Drive Review
  • Thank You
  • Seagate

  • “Seagate once again shows us that they’re one of the biggest players in the HDD market with the IronWolf drive. An industry-leading performance and capacity at a low power consumption are things that you simply can’t argue against.”
  • Seagate IronWol
  • The price for the 10TB hard drive is high
  • So if you're looking to use a number of these drives in RAID then you're going to be spending quite a bit of money. It's also a bit of a shame to see the lower capacity IronWolfs hobbled with slower data transfer
  • By mechanical standards
  • Its expensive.

  • Abstract:  There's something about 12TB hard drives reading and writing at 250MBps that we just can't get enough of. This go-round, we review Seagate's IronWolf--the slightly slower, slightly lower-rent cousin to the mighty 12GB Seagate BarraCuda Pro we recently too...

  • As we mentioned in the beginning of the review, the 12TB model didn't appear to use anymore power than the 10TB, according to the specifications. Looking at the raw data from my own testing I do see a touch more being used in random read and random write...

  • High capacity Great speeds Excels in RAID arrays NASspecific features
  • Expensive Wasted as a standard hard drive Lower capacities are slower
  • If you're looking for a high capacity hard drive to work hard in a busy NAS setup, you won't find a better drive than this...

  • The IronWolf in its 10TB configuration brings a solid jump in capacity over previous 8TB NAS solutions. For those running multiple bay configurations, this means an extra 4TB for two bay users and 8TB for four bay users. A high-level of build quality is...

  • Low cost per GB, Huge capacity, Standard 3.5-inch drive, Good warranty, Good NAS optimisations
  • High retail price, Not ideal as boot device
  • SSDs can't compete with price-per-GB-value of this magnitude. A great storage choice...

  • Abstract:  With competitive prices and the availability of larger capacity Solid State Drives (SSD), the traditional Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is slowly becoming obsolete as the main storage drive of choice in recent PC configurations. But their low price and XL size ca...
