  • You’re staring at the fastest terabyte drive on the market.
  • The Barracuda’s burst speeds aren’t quite on par with Western Digital’s. That’s a minor detail, but a detail nonetheless.

  • Abstract:  It's well over six months since I reviewed the first commercially available 1 terabyte hard drive, the Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000 . Back then I predicted all the other big names in hard drive manufacture would shortly be joining Hitachi at this milestone. Ho...

  • Low power usage; massive capacity; surprisingly good performance; quiet and cool; cost-effective; good reliability numbers.
  • Performance is a little below the competition.
  • While the RE2-GPs performance wont amaze, the relatively quiet and cool operation, plus the great price will appeal to users looking for good value....

  • Abstract:  4 So much for IDE. Seagate leaves the parallel interface behind, along with longitudinal recording, in its latest generation of PMR (perpendicular magnetic recording) terabyte drives. Seagate’s latest, the Barracuda 7200.11 is available in 500GB, 75...

  • 1 Terabyte of storage, 32MB cache, Better cost/GB ratio than SCSI, 5 year warranty, 3.0 gigabits/sec I/O threshold, with the option to decrease to 1.5 gigabits/sec, Generation 2 Perpendicular Recording technology
  • Price may be of concern to some general consumers
  • We were a little worried that a drive the size of Barracuda 7200.11 1TB would not perform well. So much for those thoughts the 1TB Seagate is a fast drive with a good sustained throughput and very good access times. Even though a few of the benchmarks...

  • Ties or outperforms the competition; 32 cents per gigabyte cost; Price per gigabyte is equally equitable for both 750 GB and 1 TB drives.
  • 500 GB version provides best bang for buck value; No feature that really sets the drive above the crowd.
  • Seagate’s newest hard drive continues the company’s tradition of competitive hard drives.

  • Abstract:  Seagate has a lot of titles under their belt, but the first company to produce a 1 Terabyte hard drive isnt one of them. Regardless of who came in first, the only thing that matters is who is best and Seagate has proven to the world time and time agai...

  • From a technical standpoint, the Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 is one of the most advanced consumer level hard disks on the market. The drive showcases second generation perpendicular recording, 32 MB of cache, excellent multi-tasking performance, very ...
