  • Abstract:  The first thing you’ll notice about the Netgear WNR854T RangeMax NEXT Wireless-N Router, one of Netgear’s Draft-N products, is its clean, sleek design. Unlike competing Draft-N products that typically use a combination of three external antenn...

  • Abstract:  Netgear’s WNR854T commands a $10 premium over Linksys’ WRT300N, a cost that’s easily justified by the former products’ features and performance. Let’s tackle performance first. Netgear’s router looks so sharp that we were skeptical its concealed antenn...

  • Tremendous speed at close range, great design, good interface, gigabit switch.
  • Unsatisfactory performance at long range.
  • The Netgear WNR854T is the fastest of the draft-n routers so far—and it has some great extras, such as a gigabit switch—but it still disappoints at long range....

  • Good speed for streaming video, Gigabit Ethernet switch, keyword content filtering
  • Random drop-outs, had to restart after every settings change, worked best with Netgear adapters only
  • Good features and wireless streaming speed were countered by random drop-outs, which caused us many headaches. ...

  • Abstract:  In contrast to Buffalo’s boy-racer looks, Netgear’s WNR854T could easily be inconspicuous in any room of the house. The lack of external antennae is partly to thank, but the upright design, neutral colours and glossy finish all contribute...
