The Acer C7 Chromebook is one of those rare gadgets that actually looks better in the flesh than in press pictures
It’s a handsome laptop of metallic grey and black
And very portable. It’s incredibly solid for such a low price too
The excellently spaced keyboard shows no sign of give in the centre whatsoever. There’s also a hefty 320GB hard drive on board
So you can happily use the Acer C7 Chr

Chunkier and weightier than similar competitor
App limitations
While the keyboard is resoundingly sturdy for such a cheap laptop
It does have a little drawback
Tiny cursor keys that are too hard to find
And which rub up too close against the Page Up and Page Down keys. That wouldn’t be so bad were it not for the slightly creaky trackpad
Which even on maximum settings is a bit slow and unresponsive - given both Mac OS X and Windows 8’s wonderful use of ge

More RAM for better, zippier performance. Swappable 6-cell battery lasts longer on the road. Very affordable. Big 320GB hard drive for a Chromebook. Full selection of ports, including Ethernet and VGA. Keyboard blends traditional and Chrome layouts.
Unchanged design is still clunky. Chrome OS is limited. No 3G option
Though it still has a couple of faults, the new version of the Acer C7 Chromebook is faster, longer lasting, and better all around. All this and its very low price tag makes it the best inexpensive Chromebook on the market....

Abstract: Acer set the price record for Chromebooks with its C7 that debuted for just $199. The 11.6-inch laptop was average for the genre, with the exception of a 320GB hard drive instead of flash storage. The four-hour battery life was short for a Chromebook, mar...
I wanted to really dislike this experience, and in many ways it was compromised. But much of that is just a matter of having to live in the browser. Right now, on my MBP I have three browser windows with around two dozen tabs open. I have VLC open for pla...
$199 is hard to beat. Chrome OS works well for what it does. Excellent connectivity and decent performance
Build quality is lacking and battery life is on the low side. OS ecosystem is very limiting. Even at this price, we feel the competition has more rounded options

Dirt cheap at $199. Relatively enormous 320GB hard drive. Full selection of ports, including Ethernet and VGA. Swappable battery. Keyboard blends traditional and Chrome layouts.
Clunky design. Short battery life. Chrome OS is limited. No 3G option
The Acer C7 Chromebook (C710-2847) isn't the slickest laptop out there, but it runs Chrome OS, has a roomy hard drive and a full selection of ports, and sells for a song. We'll overlook a lot for its $200 price tag....
There are more ports on this device than other Chromebooks. You will also get vastly more storage with the 320GB hard drive and 100GB of cloud storage
The battery life is low and the startup time is slow. The design is more bland and thicker than what you would expect with Chromebooks
The Acer C7 Chromebook has a 320GB hard drive, which is hundreds more than other Chromebooks have. This, on top of the 100GB of free cloud storage, will give you a sufficient amount of space to store your files. There are plenty of places to connect your...

$199. $199, Performs better than Samsung's more expensive ARM-based counterpart, Plenty of ports, Great for tinkerers or hobbyists
Thick and heavy relative to other Chromebooks and Ultrabooks, Four-hour-or-less battery life is low by today's standards, Tiny arrow keys are easy to miss and hard to get used to, All-plastic construction is reasonably sturdy but not very attractive, Chro
Enlarge / The C7's lid.Andrew CunninghamChrome OS is still a bit of a tough sell, but the C7 and the ARM Chromebook are both cheap enough to finally make it palatable. Neither is an especially high-quality laptop, but at these price points they're a signi...

Low price, Good port selection, 320GB hard drive plus 100GB of cloud storage
Very short battery life, Bland and relatively thick design
Acer's Chromebook delivers Chrome OS for a rock-bottom price, but it's sunk by short battery life and a thicker and heavier design than the competition.
