The editors liked
Good build quality
Excellent performance
Impressive thermal dissipation
Display has outstanding contrast and grayscale accuracy
The Nvidia 1060 graphics card is overclockable
And cooling is assisted by a patented superthin fan. For a 17-inch VR-ready gaming laptop
The price is very reasonable
Plays 1080p games smoothly
Core i7 processor
Good-looking design
Surprisingly lengthy battery life
Well made and not very aggressive on the gaming accents
Good IO
Good keyboard and trackpad
Runs cool and quiet with daily use
Fairly good speakers
But not very loud
Decently priced to start
Gorgeous 4K display
Excellent keyboard
Lots of power
Affordable price
144Hz refresh rate
Decent battery life
Well made
Gets an upgraded screen
Solid performance
Excellent price
Cool game-centric design
Great battery life for a gaming laptop
Solid CPU and GPU performance
Three set GPU speeds
The editors didn't like
Slow SSD speeds
Especially sequential reads/writes
No HDD
Mediocre battery life
Poor audio quality
Color accuracy
Lacks necessary ports for Oculus Rift compatibility
You can find the same GPU in 15-inch systems that cost less. The screen is only standard HD resolution and doesn't really pop. The part-plastic body is a yawn

The Acer Predator Helios 300 isn't without its flaws, but the performance it offers at $1,100 makes the flaws almost negligible. It's hard to pass up a deal this enticing if you're working with a $1,200 budget. Review $1099.99...

easily recognizable, light weight, slim design, GeForce GTX 1060 with 6 GB VRAM, fast Intel Core i7-7700HQ, good input devices, 512 GB SSD, matte display with good viewing angles, high system performance, low power consumption, great port distribution, f
sound system is below expectations, high temperatures under load, cooling fans make high-frequency noise under load, cooling fans difficult to clean, only one free 2.5-inch slot available, could offer more ports
Fairly portable (thinner and lighter than the competition), Decent keyboard and touchpad, Good IPS panel with wide sRGB coverage and high maximum brightness, Good battery life for a 17-inch gaming laptop
Unsatisfactory build quality, Poorly designed cooling system (high inner and outer temperatures during load)е, The screen uses PWM from 0 to 99% brightness (our Health-Guard profile fixes that), Only one USB-A 3.0 connector
If you are expecting the usual Predator experience from Acer, you will definitely be disappointed. But if you are a fan of the lineup and you still don't want to spend so much money on a 17-inch GTX 1060-equipped gaming machine, then the Predator Helios 3...
Very good value/price ratio, with GTX 1060 I7, SSD and 2x8GB RAM combination for $1000$1050, Panel with low response times than usual, Rather comfortable keyboard (but resistance should have been better), NVMe M.2 port, Easy access to the 2.5" bay and RAM
IPS has low color coverage, low maximal brightness. Forget about photoediting, Ports: Only 2xUSB 3.0 ports (1xTypeC), no Thunderbolt 3, no mDP, Storage: SSD is SATA and no HDD included, Sound quality isn't good, Upper left keyboard surface temps > 50C und
I'll keep it short. The Acer G3-571 / Helios 300 is a basic gaming laptop, but for $1050 (current price), the laptop is the most convincing gaming laptop for that price I've tested. It sports the usual hardware of I7-7700HQ, GTX 1060 6GB, 1080p IPS displa...
