The editors liked

  • Sleek
  • Comfortable design
  • Mixer works really well
  • Comfortable to wear
  • Wellrounded audio performance
  • Choice of inline mic and boom mic
  • USB powered
  • No drivers required
  • Affordable
  • Cross
  • Platform compatibility
  • Not too bulky
  • Sound quality from the Plantronics Rig is fantastic
  • Thanks to the 40mm speaker drivers. They make gunshots from games sound ear-splittingly realistic. Three EQ profiles give you plenty of flexibility based on what you want to do
  • You can choose from pure
  • Intensify
  • Or seismic. The Rig is comfortable to wear
  • And looks cool
  • Too. You'd happily be seen wearing it out and about
  • So long as you rem
  • Headset itself is well designed
  • Headset provides decent audio quality
  • Really useful to be able to mix in music and answer calls
  • USB controller is easy to use

The editors didn't like

  • Pricey for a wired
  • Stereo headset
  • Cable clutter could be a problem
  • No option to disable sidetone
  • Not entirely Xbox One compatible
  • Wire reach may be an issue
  • At £109.99
  • The Plantronics Rig is far from cheap
  • Especially when you consider a headset comes with the Xbox 360. In fact
  • You could buy three official Xbox 360 headsets for less than that
  • Which puts it in perspective. It's wired as well
  • Which isn't ideal
  • Seeing as you'll have a long lead trailing across the floor to the sofa. For that price
  • You’d expect wireless. While a nice touch
  • The mix
  • May be too bassy for some
  • Mobile phone cable not included in box

  • If you like your headphones to sound sparkly and bassy, the Plantronics RIG should satisfy you. While the product is marketed as a gamer headset, I find myself benefiting from the mixer while using it with for my desktop audio production without missing a...

  • The RIG in use - injecting mobile audio/music.I used the RIG for a week like I would use my normal headset – the A40 – and found it lacking overall. The RIG was tested in streaming and YouTube content production, where it didn't do a very good job picking...

  • Abstract:  Gamers need good gear. The wear and tear of countless intensive FPS sessions take their toll on even the toughest equipment. So treat yourself or a gamer you love to something shiny and new. Unless you want to blame your last death on your crappy keyboard...

  • Abstract:  9 Flares 9 Flares × Have you ever been on a game winning streak, or near an all time high score and your phone rings? Do you answer it, or keep going? Or perhaps your team really needed to get a hold of you to defend the team’s title almost last minute...

  • Solid performance with a reliable mic, Well-designed mixer puts everything you need at your fingertips
  • Secondary input channel is nothing but a (neat) gimmick, No surround sound
  • The Rig is an excellent all-around headset with some unnecessary features that inflate the price....

  • The RIG produces decent sound for its price point and the control mixer adds a new level of smartphone control when gaming. The headphones are light and comfortable for longterm wear, chat quality is top notch and the flat cables really help keep tangles
  • Construction is kind of on the cheap and flimsy side. The volume sliders for switching between smartphone and gaming mode could be consistent. Audible distortion at higher volumes with the master volume ring
  • For $129, the RIG is worth it if you frequently talk to friends over the phone while gaming or appreciate listening to your own music while listening to the game. It may not have the audio fidelity as, say, a pair of Astros or Turtle Beach gaming head...

  • The Rig does everything you need from a quality headset other than Dolby. Build quality is wonderful and the headset can be abused without too much worry. The lack of a USB port and the excessive cabling are slightly disappointing, but for a first version...

  • Abstract:  The Plantronics RIG is a gaming headset that aims to straddle and blending the lines between gaming headphones and regular headphones . The RIG is something of a hybrid or headset. One that comes with over-the-ear 40mm drivers and can be used on home cons...

  • Most of my hours spent listening with the Plantronics RIG was wasted waiting for the headphones to burn in. Even now at the time of writing, it's not entirely there yet, but at least it's gotten to the point where I can work out the experience. The RIG ha...
