The Brother MFC-J430W is an all-in-one, compact printer/scanner that's inexpensive and saves money on ink. But the image quality and user-friendliness failed to impress us. ...
Compact, affordable printer with scanner, copier and fax features
Modest print speeds in high quality mode; colour printing price could be more competitive
Print costs aren't quite as competitive as some of its rivals, though, at 2.5p for mono and 7.9p for colour prints. That confirms the impression that the MFC-J430W is primarily aimed at home workers who need versatility rather than high performance from t...

The Brother MFC-J430W all-in-one printer is compact, chic, easy to use and clearly laid out and manages to produce decent quality documents and photos at reasonably fast speeds. Photocopies are not wonderful, though, and a couple of standard fixtures a...
Well-featured software bundle, Easy to use, ‘inverted' ADF, Wireless connection with WPS
Pale colour photo copies, No photo card readers, Small LCD display
Brother only quotes draft speeds for the MFC-J430W, with 33ppm for black print and 26ppm for colour. Under test, we saw 6.5ppm on our five-page black text print and 8.6ppm when printed in ‘fast' mode, which we assume is draft by another name. Some way off...
