  • Front camera is a decent solution for video chat
  • For some inexplicable reason
  • The industry has decided as a general rule that all tablets should look like a boring black plastic photo frame. Thankfully
  • Asus is going against convention with the Asus MemoPad HD 7
  • And injecting a bit of colour into its wares
  • It comes in white
  • Pink
  • Blue and green hues
  • And we were quite taken with the lime shade of our review unit. It's sturdily built
  • And at

The editors didn't like

  • Ambient Light Sensor which automatically senses lighting conditions is absent
  • Aluminum Casing is replaced with plastic casing
  • Random Access Memory (RAM) is limited at 1GB
  • HDMI connectivity is not included
  • Hard to press buttons
  • Slightly dull screen
  • Not as many tablet apps as IOS
  • Poor cameras
  • Material quality
  • Position of microSD slot
  • Limited connectivity options
  • Screen is prone to glare
  • New Nexus 7 is better specced and similarly affordable
  • Some occasional lags and hangs
  • Limited video gaming capacities
  • Finish and handling could be improved
  • Belowaverage rear camera
  • The Asus MemoPad 7 is built perfectly adequately - which is all you can ask for in the budget category - but it is let down slightly by its software. It's one version out of date
  • But more importantly
  • Because it isn't a Google Nexus family member
  • It's not guaranteed to get prompt updates in the future when they do either. Some of Asus' additions to vanilla Android as well aren't entirely welcom
  • Rear plastic might be a little brittle
  • No 3G or 4G model
  • Screen could be brighter
  • Screen attracts fingerprints
  • Asus User Interface can be overwhelming
  • Can get sluggish during heavy use
  • For $80 more
  • You can get a cutting-edge Nexus 7
  • Plastic body
  • Dull looks
  • Unnecessary software
  • Rotten sound

  • The Asus Memo Pad HD 7 rocks an impressively colorful screen, features a bevy of useful customization options, and comes in at a budget price.
  • Its performance is mediocre and the touch screen is sometimes unresponsive. The plastic build gives it a toy-like feel and it isn't very comfortable to hold. The dull design lacks panache.
  • For those looking to save a buck, for its low price, the Asus Memo Pad HD 7 has a bevy of useful features, though there are better performing options out there.

  • Abstract:  The original Asus MeMo Pad which appeared at the start of last year didn't really receive the credit it was due until the likes of Google approached its creators to help create the Nexus 7 . Having now proved twice that Asus is the king of the 7-inch tabl...

  • If you're investing in an Android tablet, it may be in your best interest, even for the most basic user, to spend the extra $70 and go with a Nexus 7. The tradeoffs in using the MeMo Pad are significant: poorer screen, slower processor, infrequent updates, lower app compatibility. But if you can live with these sacrifices, the MemoPad is a decent product, and at $159, a great deal....

  • Abstract:  The ASUS MeMO 7 HD feels and looks very similar to the 2012 Nexus 7. This device uses more plastic, doesn't have a grippy rubber finish on the backplate but its dimensions are nearly identical to ASUS bestselling Android tablet. So, why mess with the form...

  • Abstract:  The ASUS MeMO Pad HD 7 is a competent Android-based seven-inch tablet for the surprisingly low price of $160. Sadly, there's not a lot else to be excited about here. Why aren't I more jazzed about this blow-away deal? Because the device is bulky and cheap-...

  • Sharp screen, Great price, Lightweight software skin, Audio
  • Poor cameras, Material quality, Position of microSD slot, Limited connectivity options
  • As a budget tablet, the Memo Pad HD 7 perfectly fits the bill. It's fast enough, has all the features you'd expect and a particularly vibrant screen. It's keenly priced and generally offers an excellent user experience. It's also light enough to use comf...

  • Very low price, Rear facing camera, Light weight
  • Wi-Fi only, No real wow factor
  • The ASUS Memo Pad HD 7 is a very similar device to the Nexus 7 but with the addition of a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera. It will become one of the cheapest tablets on the market...

  • For the standard use and nothing too fancy this is a very decent tablet. Decent display but pathetic camera and no front facing camera is more like hit in the guts. Dual core would have been a better option but I guess they have optimised this processor w...
