  • While the size and shape of the Surface Pro haven’t changed much in a year - it’s still the same dazzling 10.6-inch full HD screen attached to a rather hefty slab you wouldn’t want to throw in your bag - we’re pleased to say that what’s under the hood has. The new Intel Haswell 1.6GHz processor and beefy 4GB (or even 8GB) of RAM don’t flinch when it comes to opening memory gobbling apps like Phot

The editors didn't like

  • Heavy
  • Expensive
  • Lack of LTE is a shame
  • Priced way too high to compete with tablets
  • Keyboard covers are vital but expensive
  • No lighter or thinner than the original
  • Charging port is really fiddly to use
  • Bulky
  • Battery life not good enough
  • Poor Touch Cover
  • Hard to service/upgrade parts
  • No keyboard included
  • It's a lot of cash
  • Chunkier and heavier than many tablet competitors
  • Stated storage isn't realised (64GB is approx 37GB)
  • Camera quality
  • No beefy graphics card on board
  • Heavy and clunky by tablet standards
  • Keyboard covers cost an extra £100
  • Not enough ports
  • Overheating
  • We could moan about the lack of tablet-ized apps in the Windows App store
  • But it’s not a huge issue given the Pro can run all your legacy desktop apps - some of which such as Skype we still prefer to their fullscreen cousins. There are some niggling hardware issues though
  • Ones you might expect from a relative newcomer but still pains nonetheless
  • The Pro 2 is heavy
  • The magnetic power lead fidd
  • Extras are impressive but expensive
  • Not upgradeable
  • Irritating dynamic contrast on screen
  • App store still lacking
  • High DPI in desktop mode troublesome
  • Not cheap
  • Bulky and heavy
  • Keyboard cover is optional
  • Kickstand still digs into your legs

  • Solid magnesium body, Improved kickstand, Vibrant display, Improved OS
  • Heavy, Chunky, Expensive, Lack of LTE
  • Microsoft has taken the option of improving upon on what was there before with the Surface Pro 2, so if you wasn't keen on the concept of a tablet offering the functionality of a laptop, you're unlikely to be swayed by this second effort. On the other han...

  • The Microsoft Surface Pro 2 is a faster, longer-battery-life version of the original model, upgraded with a current-gen Haswell processor. The keyboard cover is also improved with backlit keys, and is among the best tablet accessories ever devised
  • The Surface Pro 2 remains stubbornly thick and heavy compared with some sleeker competitors. The base 64GB version may leave you starved for storage, and the keyboard cover, practically required, should be included instead of sold separately
  • Microsoft's subtly updated Windows 8.1 tablet feels more like Surface Pro 1.5 -- improved battery life and better accessories make it a worthwhile (albeit pricey) laptop replacement, but it's still not an iPad-level category killer....

  • Great overall design (we love the kickstand), Full HD screen, Lots of CPU speed in a small tablet form factor, Is a great hybrid if you use Type Cover 2, Optional Power cover to improve battery life
  • Battery life not as good as we'd hoped, Lacks integrated full-sized HDMI and SD facilities, Wi-Fi could be better, Easily scratched
  • The second version of Microsoft's Surface Pro tablet offers some good enhancements, primarily to the kickstand and the available accessories. We think it's a great tablet all up, especially if you like the idea of carrying around a fully functional comput...

  • Abstract:  Does Microsoft's answer to the Ultrabook sink or swim as a viable business machine, or is it just a toy?The Surface Pro 2 doesn't look much different to the Surface 2, just slightly thicker and heavier. Under normal circumstances, you don't even notice th...

  • Ultrabook-like performance, Improved battery life from original Surface Pro, High-res, good quality 1920x1080 display, Very solid magnesium-alloy build, Dual-angle kickstand
  • Still too heavy and thick for comfortable ‘tablet' use, Older Windows desktop applications don't scale well to the high-density display, Paint job is prone to scratches and marks, Only one USB port, no SD card slot, Not really suited to lap-top use (or ot
  • Though the Surface Pro 2 changes little from its predecessor, every little change is for the better. The dual-angle kickstand, improvements to the already-awesome keyboard accessories, and notably better battery life are all huge points in the Pro 2's fav...

  • Man, this is beautiful hardware. The year thATT#39;s gone by since the launch of the first generation has done absolutely nothing to diminish the commanding presence of the Surface design. You pick one up and you want to use it, you want to love it. You think
  • But almost everything that wasn't wonderful about the Surface Pro is still present in the Surface Pro 2. Perhaps most telling-and troubling-are the systemic issues that a spec bump can't fix, There's a great laptop inside this device, and a great tablet i
  • If you found nothing compelling about the Surface Pro, theres little here to change your mind. The appeal is still pretty niche. This device is largely for professionals who have some sort of specific need for ultra-portability mixed with a full-featured...
