Non-original design with an abundance of plastic
High initial price
It's packed full of so much bundled software from Samsung and third parties that it will likely be confusing for first-time Android users
As with the Galaxy S5
Samsung has crammed in a fingerprint scanner into the Tab S
But it manages to succumb to the same flaws it just doesn't really work. It's hard to use gracefully
And we often found ourselves resorting to typing in our password to u

Audio and picture quality don't beat the best

The new Galaxy Tab S is something of a conundrum: on the one hand, it represents a big shift from Samsung, one that promises to finally give it something that can be considered a rival to the iPad, on the other, an over-reliance of familiarity. The Galaxy...
We're impressed with Samsung's latest tablet offering, at least when it comes to the camera, screen and size, but Apple's iPad mini 2 still offers us the operating system we love, a more stylish design and exceptional performance. It's tricky to decide...
Abstract: Samsung today unveiled its Galaxy Tab S 8.4, a compact Android 4.4 KitKat tablet with an 8.4in screen. Here we compare the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and key rival the Apple iPad mini 2 (aka Apple iPad mini with Retina display) to find out whether Apple or ...

Abstract: The two versions - 10.5in and 8.4in - both offer 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, with a claimed 100 times greater contrast ratio of TFT screens. Samsung demonstrated one of the new tablets alongside its existing TFT Tab Pro, both showing identical images, pointi...
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is one of the best Android tablets we've ever reviewed. In terms of hardware it's the best you can buy right now and has a superbly thin and light design. There's very little to dislike here aside from some elements of the Tou...
In every way that matters, this is a great tablet. The fingerprint reader is naff and some of Samsung's software features miss the mark, but the screen is great it's the perfect size for toting around with you everywhere.Next, read our tablet buying guide...

Abstract: Samsung may not be the only Android tablet manufacturer, but they might as well be. While there are a number of Chromebooks that do a serviceable job as tablets now, no one else is delivering a flagship iPad competitor on the Android side. The Galaxy Tab...
Our Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ review highlighted that tablet's ability to function well as a mobile productivity machine, and we think that assessment holds up for the new generation of Galaxy Tab. In fact, while we haven't tested one, we think the addition...
The Tab S line is a solid showing by Samsung, but their real value can be summed up in one line: these are the tablets to watch movies on. They really do the best when they're playing back any kind of media, and the rest of their features and software fee...

Beautiful highresolution AMOLED displays. Absurdly thin and light. Expandable storage via MicroSD slot. Multi Window mode is a useful extra, as is SideSync if you own a Galaxy phone. Solid battery life
TouchWiz UI means there's a bit of bloatware in the mix. That same plastic dimpled backing as the Samsung Galaxy S5 (although it does look better on these tablets)
