The editors liked

  • HD large screen Pokemon battles that are accessible and engaging
  • Poke Ball Plus Controller with unique sounds and lights
  • Pokemon Go connectivity and transfer
  • Co-op play and battling
  • A bright new vision of Kanto to explore
  • New catching mechanic is a wonderful addition
  • Your Pokémon partner is absurdly adorable
  • Plenty to love for newcomers and seasoned fans
  • Beautiful recreation of Pokemon Yellow with some modern twists
  • New mechanics work incredibly well
  • Sets a new bar for Pokemon world building

The editors didn't like

  • Trainer Battles too easy especially when playing co operatively or with appropriate counter Pokemon
  • Catching can start to become repetitive
  • Be sure to use those repels
  • Turn-based battles become stale after a while
  • It's still a remake of Pokémon Red
  • Blue and Yellow
  • Not intended entirely for beginners
  • Pokemon Go interactivity isn't as huge as you'd expect

  • Remakes a classic Pokemon game, Looks clean and crisp
