  • Abstract:  On paper, Halo: Combat Evolved read like it was destined for obscurity: In the future, a cybernetic super soldier defends humanity from an alien horde. It’s the sort of logline that reminds you that you need to take the rubbish out tonight. The develop...

  • Trims the fat and delivers a Halo game that plays as homage to the series as a whole. Armour ability system is a great step forward. Expanded multiplayer options increase value. The planet Reach is a great achievement.
  • Fails to truly convey the drama of Reach's fall. Thin characters. Some over-developed Convenant weaponry. Some frame rate losses.

  • Abstract:  Halo broke the mould when it was released on Xbox 360, convincing many for the first time that a first person shooter could be played effectively without a keyboard and mouse. Halo's controller-friendly interface took frustration out of the equation an...

  • Halo: Reach is a fitting end to an amazing part of gaming history that has served as the vanguard of Xbox gaming dominance. Gamers are treated to a well thought out campaign and some excellent multiplayer options, providing a fitting farewell to an exc...

  • Pros, Thrilling shooting action. Addicting multiplayer combat. Strong sci-fi storyline. Now has 4K visuals and a 60FPS frame rate. Doesn't require an Xbox Live Gold subscription for online play
  • Cons, Cumbersome new menu and UI. Missing elements featured in the original Xbox 360 game. Lacks crossplay with Xbox One version. Some audio issues
  • Bottom LineA mainline Halo game has finally come to PC as part of a much larger compilation. If you desire high-octane Halo action on PC, Reach is as good a start as any, but heed this port's rough edges and missing features...

  • Exciting single player campaign, superbly executed multiplayer modes, beautiful environments and engaging soundtrack, plenty of replay value
  • Controlling terrestrial vehicles is a chore, motion blurring is a bit over the top

  • Looks achingly beautiful, Exciting story, Deep multiplayer component
  • Minor frame rate hitches
  • The art design has seen the most work though, and the art style has gone from goofy to realistic thanks to the use of muted color tones and richer, more detailed textures. The levels also feel more lived in, with buildings that actually seem habitable ...

  • Engaging campaign; new armour abilities; cool new vehicles and weapons; new robust multiplayer modes
  • Limited number of original multiplayer maps; Power of melee attacks and grenades have been downgraded; no penalty for quitting matches early.
  • While it is sad that Halo: Reach is the last Bungie Halo game, it is nonetheless a great FPS with a well tuned combat system with cunning enemies that will challenge even experienced players. The excellent single-player campaign will last a good 10 ho...
