  • Abstract:  Clearly, the YP-Z5 is intended as an iPod nano competitor. The portable digital music player is about the same size as the nano (slightly shorter, but much thicker and marginally wider), is also flash-memory based and has the same 1...

  • Small, thin and lightweight, User Interface, Drop and Drag music transfer, Battery life
  • Touchpad has some issues, Screen could be clearer, Lacks some other features (Radio, Recording etc.)
  • This is the closest you’ll get to an iPod killer. Its features are well implemented and designed and the end result is a fantastic MP3 player that perhaps just falls short due to the moody controls. A definite winner in our books...

  • Best music transfer system of any MP3 player, Crisp, clean sound, Bright screen
  • Fiddly touchpad control, Non-standard USB connector
  • Samsung has broken with convention by allowing the YP-Z5 to mount on any computer as a USB drive. Its a revelation. You dont need to install drivers, worry about DRM, stick to a single machine, or use a convoluted proprietary interface to transfer m...

  • Elegant design; brilliant screen; killer battery life; organic UI.
  • Proprietary cable; below-average file transfer rate.
  • The YP-Z5F is a decent improvement over the YP-Z5. With a price tag that is similar to the iPod nano, it is definitely worth the dough especially since it has more features and looks just as good.

  • Outputs clean and punchy sound; relatively large, bright color screen; well-designed menus; solid aluminum chassis; exceptional battery life; ability to simultaneously view photos and listen to music.
  • Touch pad can be difficult to deal with; lacks FM tuner and on-the-go playlists.
  • If youre looking for a tiny, well-built, color-screen MP3 player with excellent sound, the Samsung YP-Z5 is a great choice. Just make sure that youre comfortable with the touch-pad controller before you buy.
