At a cost of around £100 the Samsung BD-D5500 is an attractively-priced Blu-ray player that offers all the basic features one would need. Those being top quality playback and Smart TV access. Blu-ray films look great. For an entry-level system
Colours are bright and clear
And dark levels are commendable
And worth the entry free. It’ll even play back those 3D releases. The BD-D5500 also offers

The editors didn't like
Unfortunately there’s no Wi-fi. To access those Smart TV services you’ll need to use the ethernet port - a real bother if you aren’t close to a socket. The BD-D5500 does support Wi-Fi
But you’ll need to purchase a dongle sold separately.
