  • Video typically looks fluid over a home network. Works with most video devices. Passable video quality over the Internet with sufficient upload bandwidth. Universal binary.
  • Brief delay between sending IR commands and their effect. Occasional video stutters, even on home network.
  • The Slingbox Solo doesn’t change TV as much as the VCR or DVR, but it deserves that comparison. Video quality depends on network and Internet upload speeds, but it’s usually strong. ...

  • HD-compatible. Good video quality. SlingPlayer software is easy to use and works on PCs, Macs, and several cell-phone platforms. Excellent value. No monthly fees.
  • No integrated Wi-Fi. Doesnt actually stream in HD quality in most situations. As with other Slingboxes, anyone at home gets stuck seeing whatever youre watching while on the go. SlingPlayer Mobile costs extra.
  • Never miss must-see TV with this well-priced, HD-compatible box. As long as you dont expect miracles in video quality when streaming over the Internet, the Slingbox SOLO is a pleasing buy....

  • Abstract:  Sling Media rolled out Slingbox Solo, a set-top box that lets you watch a home-bound HD source from anywhere in the world on a PC, Mac, Palm OS or Symbian mobile device. It's called "Solo" because it controls just one set-top box, instead of the four...
