HTC One M8 Smartphone Review
The HTC One was the best handset of 2013
As awarded at MWC 2014. It's also won numerous awards for having the best design so it only makes sense that HTC made the best even better! I've had this for a week now

So here’s what you need to know
The HTC One (M8) is the most beautiful Android phone ever made. No question. In fact
We’d go so far as to say that only Apple’s iPhone 5 and 5s are better looking - and they’re much smaller. The new one is wrapped in metal from screen edge to screen edge
And the slick brushed metal reminds us of Apple’s older iPod touch models
Only much more streamlined. Even t

Extra features like Blinkfeed and the second camera sensor are a revelation
The editors didn't like
Still a 4-megapixel camera with limitations
Large size won't suit all users
Ufocus bokeh effect is hit and miss
2GB RAM is a bit of a disappointment
Might be a bit large and unwieldy for some
Expensive (but then again all premium phones are!)
It's so similar to last year's One M8 that it's already old news. The camera is unable to balance exposure and it has inconsistent white balance
Screen suffers in sunlight and viewing angles are not the best
Camera is good but not best in class
Photos lack fine detail
Music could time better
Let’s talk problems with the HTC One (M8) - but let’s also make clear that we’re nitpicking. The main one we have is with the navigation buttons - last year’s HTC One sported two below the screen
Worked into the bezel
But this year’s model works in the more standard Home
Back and Multi-tasking onto the display itself. It’s easier to use
But here’s the thing - the bottom bezel remains just as
Camera poor in bright light
It's even bigger than last year's model
So small hands may feel the burn
Pictures lack detail
Body could have been shorter
Slippery in cold hands
Not everyone will like Sense 6
Resolution of rear snapper is lower than other phones
Dot View case is frustrating
Slippery when held with cold hands. Sense 6 isnt for everyone but a Google Play Edition M8 is also on the way. Rear camera resolution lower than most
Adds bulk
Not waterproof
No water resistance
Slippery grip could lead to dropping
Camera still can't match iPhone 5S
Only 16GB of internal storage
Uncomfortable power button placement
$650 price is double the Nexus 5
No fingerprint sensor/IP67 certification
Blinkfeed can be annoying
Average camera
Lacks wireless charging
On
Screen buttons can get in the way
Exposure and chroma noise issues in photos
Duo camera doesn't work perfectly
Camera doesn't match quality of rivals
HTC's dedication to UltraPixel means no 4K video recording
68GB of unremovable system software is unusually steep
Gorgeous, premium design. Superb build quality. Excellent screen. Expandable storage. Brilliant performance. Clever new camera
Slippery when held with cold hands. Sense 6 isnt for everyone but a Google Play Edition M8 is also on the way. Rear camera resolution lower than most
The One (M8) is more than just a gorgeous phone. It mixes the design and finish of a luxury Swiss watch with the spped and power of a top-of-the-range smartphone, resulting in a device that has simply bowled us over. We were initially concerned that HTC’...
Despite differences between the three camera sensors, both in terms of megapixels and pixel size, the overall images produced are very good from each of the three devices. Overall images appear brighter from the Galaxy S5 than its rival devices whilst the...

Samsung has made a first approach to the concept of premium materials with the Samsung Galaxy Alpha. The terminal has a very attractive design that combines the lightness and versatility of plastic with good strength and finish of the metal. Has a team fu...
The HTC One M8 is probably one of the best HTC devices I've tested in a while. Granted there are still a few niggles that stop it from being perfect, but on the whole the performance from the CPU/RAM for playing games and the speaker quality for playing m...
Abstract: We run HTC's flagship Android smartphone, the One (M8), through our exhaustive benchmark suite. In addition, the company sent over its less-expensive sibling, the HTC One (E8). Both devices are compared and tested against a strong field of competition. ...
Abstract: The handset – 9/10What a beauty. Smoother than a seashell, the M8's brushed metal finish glides across the palm of your hand – almost to the point that I was worried about dropping it. The curved back is extremely comfortable to hold, even on long calls...
winner: The G3 With the G3 having won four rounds to the One M8's three, the LG handset is the winner of this versus review. Featuring a superb display, good security features, a lightning-fast camera and being slightly cheaper than the One M8, the G3 is...
Abstract: If you're thinking of buying a Full HD Android smartphone, you've probably come across the Galaxy S5, HTC One M8 and the Sony Xperia Z2. These three devices are their respective manufacturer's current flagships (although rumours of new prime versions with...
Whilst video quality on all three is satisfactory for a smartphone, the lack of optical image stabilisation is telling. With a handset with OIS onboard, the shake would be noticeably less and the overall video would be smoother. Nonetheless out of these t...
Abstract: HTC's One M8 is an incredibly desirable smartphone, with a stylish metal-clad design, fast performance and some excellent hardware features, but you'll be wasting your money if you buy this smartphone. We explain why in our HTC One M8 vs HTC One E8 compar...
