The editors didn't like

  • It's pretty big
  • Performance doesn't sparkle
  • Old version of Android
  • Too much bloatware
  • Almost impossible to use one handed
  • Micro SD slot hard to access
  • You need two hands to use it
  • Interface is underwhelming
  • Less pixels than rivals
  • It's running on an old version of Android
  • Huawei's software tweaks make it clunky to use and there's loads of bloatware installed as standard
  • Emotion UI makes needless changes that hamper performance and make the phone less user friendly
  • Awful UI
  • Lots of bloatware
  • May be too big for some
  • 6-inch screen means huge a handset
  • Default theme is horrid (as are most downloadable ones)
  • Vibrate alert feeble
  • Some software irks
  • Battery life could still be better given 4100mAh capacity
  • No UHD/4K video
  • Good battery life
  • But should be better given the enormous battery capacity
  • Graphics chip might be a little underpowered for future titles
  • You have to choose between a second SIM or microSD
  • Software not great fresh out of the box
  • Some minor build issues

  • Fantastic fingerprint reader, Great build quality, Excellent value,
  • Software is a little cumbersome, User interface can be inconsistent,
  • Huawei's Ascend Mate7 is a solid effort that goes toe-to-toe with flagships from Samsung, Apple, LG and Sony. If you're in the market for a new smartphone, it's definitely worth considering the Mate7, especially if you're looking at an outright purchase....

  • Abstract:  China does smartphones well; we know that much is the case from our quick peeks into the world of Xiaomi and Oppo. There's another big player that has been around in Australia for longer, though, and it has a brand new flagship phablet. Huawei's Mate7 pa...

  • It's running on an old version of Android, Huawei's software tweaks make it clunky to use and there's loads of bloatware installed as standard
  • Although it's let down by its awkward software, the excellent battery life and big, bright screen help make the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 a decent choice for those of you looking for movies and games on the go....

  • Great fingerprint scanner, Metal body
  • It's pretty big, Performance doesn't sparkle
  • The Hauwei Ascend Mate 7 looks and feels like a surprisingly accomplished handset, and at it's attractive price point it can really give the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 a run for its money. I still have a few questions on the performance side of things, but th...
