The tweaked design of the Moto G4 may not be that of a premium handset
But it's a big step in the right direction. Last year's Moto felt bulky
And Motorola has managed to slim the design down while keeping it simple and stylish
Screen-wise the Moto G4
Good performance
MicroSD slot
DualSim
Good screen
Optional fingerprint sensor
Decent cameras
Pure Android
The Moto G4's big
Bold screen and junk-free software make it a pleasure to use throughout the day. Its ability to survive a dunking will appeal to the clumsy among us
Nice screen
Plucky performance
Clean UI
Cheap as chips
Large
Colorful display
Low price
Solid specs
Better and bolder design than before
Just about maintains budget price point
MicroSD expansion
Solid battery life (and fast-charge potential)
Might be mid-spec but can handle most apps

Fully customisable form factor
Great screen
Good camera
Lengthy battery life

High quality screen

The editors didn't like
There are a few issues with the Moto G4
Although it's hard to make too much of them when you take the price of this phone into account
It's disappointing that the Moto Maker scheme hasn't been extended this time around. I'd like to have seen the option
Only a day's battery
No longer a smaller phone
No longer that cheap
No NFC
Processor performance is great for everyday tasks
But gamers will want to shop elsewhere
Basic camera
No fingerprint scanner
No IPX7 certification
G4 Plus is a better bet
Non
Removable battery
No Android Pay
Bigger new design won't be for all
G4 Plus partly undermines this standard model
Mid-spec chipset and 2GB RAM slow to load some apps
Although the new Moto G4 is more expensive than the third-generation, Motorola is offering a Full HD screen, better processor, more storage and memory. Not everyone will enjoy the jump to 5.5in or the lack of full waterproofing but this is still a brillia...
Fully customisable form factor, Great screen, good camera
Too big, Not waterproof like previous iteration
The G4 is a very well-rounded smartphone. Sensible pricing, pure android, good cameras and no-nonsense build quality coupled with the infinite customisation options make it an almost irresistible budget option, but I would have preferred for it to be slig...

Great value, Big, beautiful screen, No bloatware, Quality camera, Solid battery life
No NFC, No fingerprint sensor, No Turbo charger in box
If there's a better smartphone on the market for $200, then we want to hear about it. The only device that even holds a candle to it is the $200 Huawei Honor 5X, an all-metal smartphone with nearly the same specs sheet and a fingerprint sensor. However...

Processor performance is great for everyday tasks, but gamers will want to shop elsewhere
With its big, bold screen, water-resistant design and rock-bottom price, the Moto G4 is a dazzling deal...
Even if you're not sure about the size of the Moto G4, there's simply nothing else that even comes close to matching its value for money. Once again, Motorola's rewritten the rulebook for budget smartphones, and if you'd told me a year ago that Motorola's...

Great value, Lots of power, Strong screen
Lacks extras, Chunky design, Similar camera to last year
Motorola's done it again. The Moto G4 is great value and doesn't sacrifice any specs to get there. It's a bit big and lacks extras, but for the money it's amazing...

The Moto G4 is the Moto G anew; it's bigger and bolder than before, which is a brave new step for the mid-range budget phone. For all its good, however, it's really difficult to ignore the G4 Plus, which squeezes a lot more into the same design (fin...
