The music-phone market is more competitive than an American Little Miss beauty pageant

The phone feels cheap in the hand
And the outer screen and internal speakers lack quality
Audio and video playback are bettered
The W980i's fingerprint-loving mirrored finish and overly plastic shell doesn't scream high-end
While the lack of integrated 3.5mm headphone jack is annoying. The built-in FM transmitter is a good idea
Abstract: Theres much to like about the Sony Ericsson W980. The music player is superb, and once we got over our reservations regarding the clamshell design, we have to admit its a smart-looking handset. Theres even push-email, although this requires a degre...
While there are one or two aspects of the Sony Ericsson W980 that we found a little tricksy – primarily the fact that when youve been grooving along to the latest top tunes and unplug the earphones from the phone, it continues to blare out the songs...

Decent sound quality; solid design and build; excellent screens; Microsoft Exchange support; push email; HSDPA data; decent music format support; FM transmitter integrated
No 3.5mm headphone socket; not exactly innovative or fresh; memory not expandable; no camera flash
Not an innovative phone, and it won't replace your dedicated MP3 player, but in most other ways it's terrific and feature-packed. It'll even push your office's corporate email to you ...
Abstract: Who could resist this piano-black Walkman-series phone? It’s a quad-band handset loaded with 8 GB of internal memory, a 3.2 Megapixel camera, an FM tuner, Bluetooth stereo, and a music player that operates even with the phone flip-lid closed. Opened o...

The Sony Ericsson W980 has a sleek and attractive design with a nice-looking internal display and simple controls. The feature set is good and performance is satisfactory.
The Sony Ericsson W980s menus are rather sluggish and it takes several seconds to start up. Also, the external display has a low resolution and the rear battery cover felt a bit flimsy.
The Sony Ericsson W980 isnt our top choice for a music phone, but its an attractive and reliable model just the same. Specifications: Band / mode: WCDMA (UMTS) / GSM 850/900/1800/1900; Talk time: Up to 540 min; Combined with: With two digital cameras...
Abstract: These days, clamshell models are dwindling in number, giving way to the more numerous sliders and candy bars. The majority of new clamshells are targeted at a female audience and can’t boast much about their functionality. A technologically advanced c...
