We’ve always had a soft spot for Sony’s design - that obsession with black plastic and solid straight lines that somehow has come to embody design from the Japanese gadget giant. And while last year’s flagship Xperia S was just a bit too thick to compete

The viewing angle isn't as high as other smartphones but that in no way means it suffers from a poor viewing angle. Even the uncomfortable width and thickness of the handset is not something which would deter me from owning one

You might hate the design. If you prefer the sleek curves of the HTC One X’ chassis
The boxy look of the Xperia Z may be the very opposite of what you’re after. The waterproof doors also add some unnecessary clutter
If you don’t think you’re likely to take your phone swimming anytime soon
You might hate the extra fuss of having to prise open a flap every time you
During my time with the Xperia Z, I really did grow to love it. I like the design of the phone, it feels good in the hand, the minimal and mysterious black slab that it is. I'm a big fan of minimal design and the Xperia Z is quite easily the most “mini...
Abstract: Hate:The shots you take, or the video you film, looks great on the Xperia Z's screen. Actually, anything looks pretty good on this screen because it's exceptionally high-resolution (443ppi, against 324ppi on the already pretty impressive iPhone 5 screen)...
Attractive design, full HD 5" display, pleasing UI and software customizations
All glass phones make us nervous, no 4G LTE in US for unlocked model
Sony's top smartphones get better with every generation, and the Xperia Z is a worthy contender to fight the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4. Fans of the Xperia line and Sony's software will no doubt love the phone, with the possible exception of ba...

Abstract: The HTC One has a beautiful design, a quality feel and an excellent 4.7-inch display. If you're looking for an Android smartphone and are willing to part with £529.99 (inc. VAT; £441.66 ex. VAT), it's well worth considering. But what about performance? Tha...
Abstract: Since the Samsung Galaxy S4 finally landed at our office several weeks ago, we've been having quite a lot of fun with it. First we gave it a full-blown review treatment and then we compared it to some of the smartphones it will be going toe to toe aga...
Possibly the best phone in the world, the Xperia Z offers many very appealing features – especially its 5-inch full HD screen, slim waterproof design and amazing camera. And yet it isn’t the perfect phone. It’s too large for some users, and the poor er...

There's nothing wrong with the Sony Xperia Z per se, in fact in most respects it's quite good, delivering the most refined Sony smartphone design yet in a package with fast internals, a decent camera and a crisp display. The inclusion of a microSD card...
