Abstract: Hitachis first DVD-based camcorder, the MV100, received a lukewarm reception, due to poor picture quality, limited features and the fact that it recorded only to DVD-RAM, which is incompatible with most set-top (and PC-based) DVD players.
Abstract: Spec: Camcorder, 3" DVD-RAM, 3" DVD-R, 12 x, 720,000 pixels
Good: Much less expensive than its predecessor; megapixel still-image capture; direct, random access to video clips and stills; large, sharp LCD.
Bad: DVD media faces limitations in compatibility and functionality; a bit bulky; lackluster low-light performance; slow start-up time.
Bottomline: This Hitachis DVD-recording media creates more of a hassle than MiniDV, leaving it a bit overpriced and underfeatured.
