  • More telephoto reach than most APSC zoom lenses, Very good image quality, 4stop stabiliser enables consistently sharp handheld shots,
  • Front element rotates and extends during focusing, Basic rather than ringtype AFS autofocus, You'll have to ditch it if you upgrade to a fullframe camera
  • The latest-generation 4-stop Vibration Reduction works a treat and build quality is a step up from Nikon's smaller 55-200mm VR lens, making the Nikon Nikkor AF-S DX 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR well worth the extra £60 outlay.

  • Good focal length reach for the price. Lightweight. Well balanced for the D3100 and lighter Nikon DX cameras
  • Slow autofocus. Soft images at 300mm
  • The 55-300mm lens is a decent, though not stellar, addition to any Nikon photographer's kit if you shoot on the DX format and need an extensive telephoto reach....
