  • Reasonable price
  • Centre plate needs more support; too much pressure makes it bend around the keyboard/trackpad area, Would be better with an RGB keyboard; EVERYTHING is better with RGB!
  • It's said that good things come in small packages, but I am a firm believe that good things can come in any shape or size. When it comes to gaming, you don't need to drop 10k on the best of the best to run games at their maximum settings and remain above...

  • I think those who prefer a small and powerful laptop will appreciate what the MSI GS40 has to offer. It certainly delivers in terms of hardware specs, performance, cooling solution and screen quality. And is certainly fairly priced, but the keyboard and t...

  • The MSI GS40 6QE Phantom is an impressive gaming notebook with very few compromises. Its gaming abilities are only one rung down from the fastest single-GPU notebooks currently available. It has a great screen, looks good, and has a super-quick NVMe SSD f...

  • Abstract:  When it comes to gaming laptops, one company in particular seems to have the market stitched up. MSI has easily the widest range of gaming laptops in Australia, which is probably also why they tend to offer the best value. The new GS40 is a 14 incher that...

  • Solid performance, Plentiful storage, Features USB-C with Thunderbolt 3
  • Latest games will challenge high-end graphics capabilities, Unsatisfying keyboard
  • MSI's GS40 6QE Phantom is a solid midrange gaming laptop with the power for 1080p games on high settings, a nice feature set, and a high-quality build for well under $2,000...

  • Great performance from the Skylake CPU and GTX 970M. Better than expected brushed metal build. Thunderbolt 3, Killer networking, and a SteelSeries keyboard are decent inclusions.
  • Another bad ELAN trackpad. More expensive than Gigabyte's competing laptop. Not the greatest of cooling solutions.

  • Crazy fast for a 14", 3.75 lb. laptop, can game with the big boys. Nice matte IPS display, very good internals and specs. MSI includes 2 year warranty in the US rather than the industry standard 1 year
  • Battery life not great, fans are loud, bottom gets toasty
  • Would I like to own the MSI GS40 Phantom? Yes, indeed! It's extremely portable at 3.75 lbs, in fact it's lighter than the Dell XPS 15 and it has a faster graphics card too, which means high to very high settings on today's AAA titles. It's a nice looking...

  • MSI already has a relatively strong portfolio of gaming notebooks, and the GS40 Phantom continues to help round out that portfolio giving customers looking for top end hardware in a 14″ form factor a strong offering that few other system integrators offer...

  • Abstract:  Hard-core PC gamers used to literally carry around a desktop computer rig to gaming meet-ups because under-powered notebook computers wouldn't do. Companies like MSI mostly brought that practice to an end thanks to notebooks like the MSI GS40 Phantom, a b...

  • enormous performance for the size, great display (after calibration), fast combination of SSD and HDD, good port equipment, decent battery runtime
  • chassis is not very sturdy, spongy keyboard, power adapter insufficient, pulsating fan behavior
  • The GS40 is a good compromise between performance and compact dimensions. The few drawbacks are mainly the result of the "Mini-Max" concept, but you can live with them. The (gaming) performance is beyond any doubt – the GS40 can even handle very demanding...
