The editors liked

  • The design and build of Khet 2.0 is great. After you’ve moved a piece you get to fire the laser from your Sphinx out across the board and hope to hit your opponents Pharaoh. Lasers only travel in straight lines to the cunning part of the game is that the main playing pieces
  • The Scarab Beetles and Pyramid pieces have mirrors on them that deflect and move the laser in other directions. Protecting

The editors didn't like

  • Just like Chess
  • You need to set up Khet’s playing board to a strict pattern
  • Three of which are supplied with the game. Unlike chess
  • Even the basic
  • Or Classic
  • Board set up isn’t that easy to learn
  • So you’ll be constantly needing to refer back to the rule book. The Dynasty and Imhotep setups are even more convoluted
  • So best saved for when you’ve got to grips with the game.
