The 3D really does work. Astonishingly so. The moment you witness the glasses-free 3D effect for the first time is a genuine eye-opener. If the idea of having things pop out at you is enough to make your eyes water
Nintendo has made the 3D effect adjustable as if it were a volume control. Not that many will want to go back to 2D. Those planning to take their 3DS out and about will be pleased to

Flipped open the 3DS is a beauty
But its outer shell lacks the clean curves of the DS Lite giving the 3DS a more functional look than something resembling an object of gaming desire. Awkward stylus placement on the rear means you'll have to reach around the back of the 3DS to whip it out.

Abstract: I can't explain why, but I am convinced that small, portable 3-D screens that don't require glasses are finally going to bring 3-D films (and, more significantly, home video and photography) into the mainstream. I would go so far as predicting that the iP...
Abstract: The much-hyped Nintendo 3DS will launch on March 27, costing $249 in the US - in Europe, Nintendo says neatly, it's anyone's guess, as retailers will set the price. The form factor's much like the DSi. At the massive but rather chaotic European launch...
