  • The Philips 65PUS8601/12 has got us really excited about the potential of the company's upcoming 2016 TV models, even though the absence of local dimming and readily available HDR support prevented the display from squeezing into the top tier of 4K Ultra...

  • Good detail and strong contrast, Customisable sound, HDR update to come,
  • Lacks subtle colour and black detail, Menus are difficult to use,
  • Philips has put together a mightily attractive package for your £2500, with an outstanding picture and intuitive sound system. It falls just shy of its class-leading rival in terms of colour subtlety and black detail, and ease of use is still an issue, but...

  • Gorgeous, looking TV, Excellent audio quality, Sharp, colourful pictures, Relatively robust Android implementation
  • Complicated to use, Contrast isn't the best, Android interface is unhelpful, HDR still months away
  • The design of the 55PUS8601 is a delight, especially thanks to its four-sided version of Philips' Ambilight technology and ultra-slim detachable speakers. Picture performance is mostly very good, and excellent in the case of native 4K content. The experie...

  • If you want a 4K TV to stand-out from the crowd then Amblight is one surefire way to do it, especially if you can wall-mount it. Plus the Philips PUS8601 does a grand job at looking elegant even when it's switched off, and it always sounds great too...

  • In many respects the Philips 55PUS8601 is a great flat-screen Ultra HD LED LCD TV, with a lovely design, solid build quality and superior sound thanks to detachable speakers. There are plenty of connections and features, along with Hex Core processing and...
