The editors didn't like

  • Some connection issues
  • You'll need to use analogue 7.1 outputs into a legacy HDMI v1.3 receiver
  • 3D pictures lack the crispness and solidity of the best
  • A touch of motion smear
  • Some offer greater sonic attack
  • Journeyman audio performance
  • Single HDMI
  • Lack of 3D Blu-ray titles
  • Can be beaten for sound and 2D by players costing a fair bit less
  • Colours aren't accurate!
  • Oldfashioned remote without backlighting
  • Poor upscaling of SD sources
  • No room for adjusting settings like colours or noise reduction
  • The player can exhibit the odd bit of crosstalk during 3D playback
  • Causing objects to ghost – but this is more an issue with the 3D TV it’s hooked up to
  • And we can’t really count it as a weakness for the BD-C6900.
  • Networking process isn't always straightforward

  • Abstract:  I subscribe to the theory that any disc player worth owning should have the demeanour of a battleship built by a Scottish shipyard. Rigidity foreshadows integrity, and tells me that a manufacturer takes the player as seriously as I take my media. So Sa...

  • Abstract:  We are on the cusp of what could be the next revolution in television technology. You guessed it – I’m talking about 3D TV. It’s been more than two years since the first 3D TVs were demonstrated at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas and n...

  • Abstract:  I was very happy with the BD-C6900's really fast start-up and loading times. During the brief time that it spent at my house, I did not experience any lock ups or functional issues. It delivered a great quality Blu-ray picture and..

  • Fast operation, 3D-ready, large content library via video-on-demand
  • Expensive compared to non-3D Blu-ray players, graphical user interface is sometimes slow, occasional visual problems with 3D video
  • The Samsung BD-C6900 is a very well put together Blu-ray player. It is fast to start, it's compact and attractive, and it can access Internet video content as well as playing 3D Blu-ray discs. It is expensive, but if you're keen on getting your video from...

  • Excels at 2D Blu-ray. Excellent feature set including apps and widgets. Integrated wireless. Good quality sound
  • 3D is terrifyingly overrated. Can't fix 3D problems through menu option
  • The Samsung BD-C6900 is an excellent 2D Blu-ray player and an average 3D player. Come for three dimensions stay for two! It will also play CDs respectably....

  • First in the market; Slim profile; Connectivity; Quickly loads Blu-ray discs; Can play movies, music, and photos; Online capabilities
  • Not compatible with older receivers; Not a lot of 3D Blu-ray discs available to fully enjoy the player's main function (which is not Samsung's fault)

  • 3D Blu-ray compatibility; excellent Blu-ray image quality; YouTube video streaming plus expandable Samsung Apps platform; built-in Wi-Fi; very fast operational speed; 7.1 analog output; 1GB onboard storage.
  • 3D price premium is high; buttons on top of player are inconvenient; last year's Samsung Blu-ray players had reliability issues.
