We’ve always had a soft spot for Sony’s design - that obsession with black plastic and solid straight lines that somehow has come to embody design from the Japanese gadget giant. And while last year’s flagship Xperia S was just a bit too thick to compete
There’s no such problem here
This slick slab is just 7.9mm deep. Its large size isn’t for everyone - iPhone owners especially will struggle to

The viewing angle isn't as high as other smartphones but that in no way means it suffers from a poor viewing angle. Even the uncomfortable width and thickness of the handset is not something which would deter me from owning one

Bulky dustlovin’ design isn’t for everyone
Sony bloatware and halfbaked Socialife app
The Sony Xperia Z's battery life is short
Its camera is slow

While we like it
You might hate the design. If you prefer the sleek curves of the HTC One X’ chassis
The boxy look of the Xperia Z may be the very opposite of what you’re after. The waterproof doors also add some unnecessary clutter
If you don’t think you’re likely to take your phone swimming anytime soon
You might hate the extra fuss of having to prise open a flap every time you

There's a lot to like about the Xperia Z not least the build quality, waterproofing and very efficient packaging. But I'm not wholly sure that's going to be enough to see off the competition from HTC's One - smaller, 4.7-inch screen notwithstanding - or ...
Overall, the Xperia Z is a powerhouse of a smartphone with a dazzling display and long-lasting battery. There are features of the Xperia T that I wish Sony held on to – such as the curved design and the dedicated camera button – but the Xperia Z is a fine...
The Sony Xperia Z is an outstanding smartphone in many ways. It looks good, it's very powerful and it's even waterproof. The added value of Full HD compared to HD resolution in a 5-inch display isn't huge, but hi-res photos do look amazing on the Xperia...

The Sony Xperia Z may be the best phone out right now, but that isn't to say it's perfect. Thanks to its weather proofing, it will be the only viable super phone out there for anyone whose business requires they be exposed to the elements....

Abstract: With the promise of a new Galaxy smartphone just a week away , the comparison of Sony's flagship Xperia Z with Samsung's much older Galaxy S III will seem bizarre. However, with plenty of customers expected to trade in their S III for a soon-to-be-release...
