Great screen
This is what happens when you do a 'mini' version of a phone right. We've seen lacklustre efforts from the likes of Samsung and HTC with mini versions of their flagship phones before
But Sony has spared no expense while zapping the Z1 with the shrink ray - in fact
Practically every tech spec remains the same in this premium handset. You're still treated to the snappy 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm p

Waterproof to 1.5m
The most powerful Android phone of its size
Waterproof and durable
Not enormous like every other topend Android
The editors didn't like
Rectangle design won't be to everyone's taste
No choice on small internal memory
Screen can look slightly washed out
Runs using older Android version
The body of our black model scratched easily
Camera not amazing
A step below other highend phones
Lack of Android 4.4
Sony's UI feels slightly dated
Screen is still only 720p
Camera has processing problems
Bezels are on the big side
Poor bundled services
Awful low light photography
Glass back prone to smudges
Custom UI is not great
Sacrifice screen size for usability
WiFi reception could be better Not yet Android KitKat Lots of Sony bloatware preloaded
Compact
Yes – but not as ergonomic as an iPhone
Camera isn't the best on a phone this size
There's not much to fault the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact on
As somehow
Sony has managed to cram in a ton of top-notch tech into such a small chassis. You could argue that it's a tad thick compared to an iPhone 5s at 9.5mm deep
But that's down to its waterproof aluminium and glass chassis. It won't win any awards for the thinnest phone on the market
But it's still pocketable and it's robust enough
Prone to scratching
Launches on Android 4.3 and software hasn't moved on very far
Little on the chunky side
Subpar lowlight camera performance
No Android KitKat out of the box
There are better smartphone cameras out there
Fingerprint and dust magnet
Big bezels above and below screen
Flaps on ports
No selectable macro mode
Pre-applied ASF
Not latest version of Android
Premium design and features comes with a premium price

Abstract: Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is the Z1 smartphone in a compact 4.3 inch form factor without compromising on its power. The phone is built around the Xperia's unibody design pattern with glass back body. Premium in all aspects. The SONY branding is visible at th...
The Sony Xperia Z1 Compact comes for about Rs. 33,000 and at this price point the only competitor for this phone is the Nexus 5. It features the stock Android ROM and can be slight faster but the Xperia Z1 Compact is certainly better than the Nexus 5 when...

Compact form factor, bright display, powerful performer
Low light camera capability, sunlight readability issue
This phone has brought back the notion that small is good and can be as powerful as the big-sized beasts of today. Effective camera that looses fizz in low-light but with a moderate battery life for daily usage, Z1 compact is an able competitor for optio...

Excellent form factor, Awesome Camera app, Great Sony software onboard
No new features, Expensive Price tag, Super-scratchy, Old camera tech
The fact of the matter stands that at around Rs. 34,000, the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is not priced too far from the flagship Sony Xperia Z1, which will stand up as its main rival, is a full HD Display and a 3000 mAh battery don't leave the consumer much ch...
My first impression of the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact announcement with the price tag of INR 34,990 was expensive for a mini device. Clearly I was wrong; its small in size but packs a punch.Almost in all criteria, the Xperia Z1 Compact matches the expectat...
Premium look and finish, Fast performance and high-end hardware, 20.7MP camera works great, Waterproof and dust proof certification, Great battery life
Glass finish is prone to fingerprints, Flaps for water protection do not seem reliable, Average loudspeaker performance, Not as slim as the Xperia Z1
Compared to other mini devices, the Z1 Compact is the undisputed champion. If you want a flagship smartphone and don't fancy a large display, then the Xperia Z1 Compact is a strong recommendation from us. Running on one of the fastest and most stable mobi...
