  • Lots of Blood and Gore
  • Quick
  • Fluid combat is more fun than ever
  • Gigantic sense of scale
  • Puzzles are clever and challenging
  • But not that difficult
  • Intense visual and audio experience
  • Fluid
  • Fastpaced and exciting combat
  • Memorable boss battles.

The editors didn't like

  • Occasional control and camera niggles. Little innovation in game mechanics.
  • Some textures look a little rubbery
  • Might have taken a step too far in terms of shock factor
  • Story can be a little short
  • QTEs can catch you offguard
  • Ending is somehow too long AND too abrupt
  • Only two Titan levels?
  • Doesn't need crateshifting puzzles.

  • A great action experience, with plenty of thrills and memorable moments; improves upon the franchise formula in almost every tangible way.
  • It doesn't bring the story to a satisfying conclusion and the attempts to make sense of Kratos' journey ultimately fall flat.

  • The voice acting fits the genre, but can be a little overdone at times, After you beat the single-player game, there's not much left to do, The game can feel a little too familiar in places, Kevin Sorbo as Hercules? Really?, The ending is going to have pe
  • These characters are painted with broad strokesThe story may borrow some characters and themes from mythology, but don't expect much in the way of subtlety when it comes to the storytelling. Kratos speaks in bold, declarative statements, basically telling...

  • Just like the God of War games that precede it, this final instalment in the trilogy isn't quite faultless even though it's excruciatingly close to a perfect score. However, it forms a trilogy that's greater than the sum of its parts. If you h...

  • Satisfying combat with a good variety of useful weapons, Outstanding visuals, both artistically and technically, Impressive sense of scale, Challenging and diverse boss battles, Amazing resolution to the trilogy
  • Not as diverse as God of War II, Story doesn't pick up until near the end
  • Exhilarating combat and an imposing sense of scale provide a fitting end to Kratos' saga....

  • Abstract:  After slicing a rampaging Minotaur repeatedly with your trusty Blades of Exile, you finally knock the exhausted beast down, leaving it dazed and disoriented from your virtuosic display of hatred-fueled combat. As the Minotaur writhes on the ground, bad...

  • Abstract:  Ok, so Kratos is pissed off and ready to maim, murder, and viciously slice ‘n dice, hack ‘n rend anything that gets in his way, but come on – does it have to be this visceral? Apparently the SCEA dev team thought so, and the tone is set immediately in ...

  • When I reviewed God of War 2 back in 2007, it was one of the best games I’d ever played, and we rated it 9.9, as close to perfect any reviewed title has received here at Strategy Informer. Having to live up to such a standard, as Sony’s Santa...

  • God of War III is a great end to Kratos' console trilogy. It's not perfect, with some uneven storytelling and progression here and there, but it's still a fantastic overall package. The combat is stellar once again, it's bloodier than ever...
