The editors liked

  • The jetpacks
  • But we can’t help but feel Guerrilla Games missed a trick here by not letting players literally take to the skies in the kind of epic battles we imagined we’d be having with them.Killzone 3’s campaign
  • Despite feeling routine on occasion is an enjoyable one. It doesn’t offer much in the way of the revolutionary new features and mechanics that fans are now crying out for in their FP
  • Visuals are stunning
  • Move control actually works if you opt for it
  • Easily the best FPS on the PS3
  • Breathlessly excited
  • Fastpaced and gorgeous to look at
  • Multiplayer is more immediately enjoyable than KZ2's
  • More varied action makes campaign more fun
  • 3D and Move are cool additions
  • If you've got them
  • Looks and sounds incredible
  • Seriously atmospheric and fun singleplayer
  • Good multiplayer suite
  • Offering some new ideas and great XP based levelling
  • Lives up to the legacy well
  • Yet adds new ideas

The editors didn't like

  • As much action as there is
  • It can feel like a shooting gallery
  • No proper co-op mode
  • Steep learning curve for newcomers to the genre.
  • Coop is strictly splitscreen
  • Allies can revive you
  • But often don't
  • Main characters are still kind of dull
  • Single player is woefully short
  • Only 8 MP maps at launch (although massive ones)

  • Incredible presentation. Weighty yet precise feel. Immensely satisfying combat. Fantastic multiplayer.
  • Story is terrible, characters are ill-defined and forgettable, nothing is really new.

  • Abstract:  A first person shooter from Guerilla Games, published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE), Killzone 3 is (nearly) here. Releasing on the 24th of February, Killzone 3 continues right where part 2 finished up - we’re not going to spoil the story...

  • Killzone 3 is an exciting and visually remarkable title, definitely worth checking out if you're a PS3 shooter fan. The single player campaign, while not supporting the best of narratives, still managed to be an enjoyable and heart pounding experience...

  • Exoskeletons (Mechs), lighting looks gorgeous in some levels, 900ft tall MAWLR boss, Bot populated offline multiplayer mode
  • Boring and abrupt cutscenes, uninspired level design, annoying voice acting, underwhelming storyline, castrated jetpack

  • Intense single-player campaign; cool new weapons; fun multiplayer mode; Move motion control and stereoscopic 3D support.
  • Poor campaign story; too many vehicular combat section.
  • On the whole, we enjoyed Killzone 3 more than the second game, largely because of the varied locations and greater variety of intense battles. Although the campaign's story is atrocious, it still manages to deliver a very cinematic experience with ple...
