  • Nice design
  • Affordable
  • Wireless N capability for faster web browsing

  • Responsive capacitive touchscreen
  • Fairly decent still shots
  • Includes the latest Android 2.3 OS
  • Android 2.3 at a pocketfriendly price
  • Small size
  • Topnotch networking integration.
  • It’s easy to judge budget smartphones as inferior to more costly handsets
  • But in the HTC Wildfire S we have a smartphone that offers features similar to pricier models. We love the unibody design that combines form and function. A 512MB internal memory can easily be upped to 32GB using a microSD card
  • Offering plenty of room for music
  • Photos and video. The HTC Wildfire S’ 3.2-inch screen offers
  • Truly pocket-sized

The editors didn't like

  • 600MHz processor is a little slow
  • VGA video recording produces unimpressive video clips
  • Design
  • The HTC Wildfire S is slimmer and lighter than its predecessor - it only weighs 105g and it's just 101.3mm x 59.4mm in size
  • So you can comfortably hold and
  • You'd never guess it was Android 2.3
  • So little has changed
  • Under-powered processor
  • Disappointing video recording
  • No DivX/Xvid video playback
  • Too expensive for what's on offer
  • Low screen resolution
  • Short on internal memory.
  • Umer Awards last year but since then
  • Other phone makers have managed to produced smartphones with even more features at even lower prices. So can its sequel
  • The HTC Wildfire S
  • Fare as well in an evermore crowded market?
  • The dinky size isn’t for everyone. One downside to the smooth unibody is getting used to holding the thing without accidentally dropping it. You also cannot play Flash video. And even when playing non-Flash video
  • The HTC Wildfire S tends to struggle. Web browsing could also feel a little quicker
  • So overall media performance feels limited.
  • Slow processor means sluggish performance
  • Not suitable for large-handed users
  • Camera is disappointing
  • Might be bettered by legacy devices still available
  • Limited multimedia performance
  • Finish on the back is a little slippery
  • Low res screen
  • HTC Sense can't be updated
  • Not powerful enough for advanced use
  • Sound quality and photos could be better

  • The HTC Wildfire S may not be up there with the pricier handsets, but as a budget handset, the HTC Wildfire offers a handsome alternative with all the features you need to stay in touch, browse the web and listen to the odd tune. HTC Wildfire S review...

  • Pros: Android 2.3 at a pocket-friendly price; small size; top-notch networking integration. Cons: The snapper lets it down and the chip is a tad slow. While the phone runs on Android 2.3, it lacks the power to make the most of it. Verdict: A nice addit...
