There’s only so much that can be done with touchscreen phone design these days
But it looks like Sony has nailed it. The Sony Xperia S is a striking phone made distinctive by its clean angular lines and illuminating bar running below the display
Which also houses the antenna. It’s a real looker. The display too is very good
Delivering some neat viewing angles
Lots of detail and some wonderfu

Xperia S is very different to previous Xperia models
With sleek lines and an LED panel below the high resolution screen. I like the crisper screen and slimmer bo
Honestly speaking
There is not a lot wrong with the Xperia S so I've had to really think hard to find some defects
Poor battery life
Large form factor awkward for typing
The Xperia S has quirky capacitive buttons
Slow 3G data
An uninspiring screen
And a pokey processor. Its $559.99 price is also steep
Slight rattle in the build
Vital daily recharges
No Ice Cream Sandwich out the box
No microSD card slot
Battery not accessible
No Mac support for file transfer
Doesn't seem to make huge steps forward
The absence of memory expansion is a letdown
And we don’t like the inaccessible battery either.
Touchsensitive buttons not very practical
Limited angles of view
Nonexpandable memory (32 GB)
Photo quality behind the competition
You can find better with 8 Mpx
Camera sensor poorly located
Low battery life
Unfortunately with its good design
There are flaws. The Sony Xperia S severely lacks in grip. Its plastic body can easily slip out of the hands in a hurry
However the hand eventually gets used to the awkward grip. And it has to be said that the Sony Xperia S is hardly compact. Some buttons even require a little stretching to operate in one-handed use. Camera quality too
For what it offers coul
No Ice Cream Sandwich on board yet
Easy to drop
No microSD slot
Slightly poor battery life
Fat chassis
Only Android 2.3
Some may dislike the lack of Ice Cream Sandwich
Lacks the coloured lights of the Xperia U
Strange on/off button placement
Music lacks a little life
Mediocre design
PlayStation bits disappoint
No Ice Cream Sandwich
No storage expansion
Nonremovable battery
Fiddly front touchbuttons
Touch strip beneath screen could be more sensitive
Slick, sexy design with a solid feel, Insane 720p display with 340ppi+, Dedicated camera button reduces shaking, Decent 12.1MP camera for photos
Android 2.3.7, Over 10 Sony apps that shouldn't be installed by default, Shaky video, Bad touch response, Takes a long time to charge, No automatic brightness
After using the Sony Xperia S for the past few days, I had no problems moving back to my Galaxy Nexus, in fact I preferred it. If, and only if Sony launched the Xperia S with Android 4.0, I'm sure I wouldn't be as happy to go back to the Galaxy Nexus.Give...
Excellent display, Slick performance and user interface, Decent battery life
No expandable memory, Terrible capacitive shortcut keys, Still waiting for Ice Cream Sandwich
The Sony Xperia S has a great screen, a very good camera and provides a slick user experience. However, it lacks expandable memory and a removeable battery, is still waiting for the latest Android software update and its capacitive shortcut buttons are un...

On the weekend, after my haircut in Mong Kok, Hong Kong, I strolled into one of the larger technology stores here called Broadway to play with the Sony Xperia S. In summary, I was very impressed! Before I talk about my experience with the Sony Xperia S, he...
Abstract: The Xperia S is the first smartphone to scrap the Sony Ericsson branding, paving the way for the Sony name to go it alone under the officially rebranded Sony Mobile Communications moniker. And with "Sony" sitting proud at the top of the phone in big block...
Sony definitely deserved its award for launching the best smartphone at CES 2013. With the current trend with the market, it surely stands proud at least for the next few months. Its hardware stacks up with the best hardware, but the screen really didn't ...

The Xperia Z is really a mixed bag kind of device. The design is pretty but has its own set of flaws. The camera has the highest resolution sensor available in the market on an Android smartphone today but its performance is average. The battery performs ...
Good hardware is nothing without solid software these days. Avoid the Xperia S until Sony gets this software fixed—especially the Wi-Fi issues. This could be such a capable and fantastic device, but it had its brains scrambled at birth. Sony should just g...
