The editors didn't like

  • The touch controls simply aren't responsive enough for more complicated actions such as skipping through multiple tracks. I used them for quickly pausing or resuming my music
  • But for the most part I'd rely on my music player for anything more demanding
  • It's pricier than the Bose
  • While the sound quality is excellent for Bluetooth
  • It's lacking that little bit of extra sparkle and definition (Sennheiser's own Momentum II Wireless sounds better)
  • Midrange can be a touch harsh
  • Touch control is finicky
  • Expensive
  • Unresponsive touch controls
  • No battery notification
  • Noise cancellation could be better.
  • Slightly rich bass
  • In-house competition
  • ANC bettered by Bose
  • Very slight hardness to mids
  • Awkward switch locations
  • Noise cancellation doesn't quite match Bose
  • Pricey
  • Some volume limits
  • Noise cancelling less effective used on its own
  • Quite Pricey

  • Powerful, adjustable audio performance with rich bass depth and bright highs, Excellent noise cancellation circuitry, Includes a detachable audio cable for passive listening, Exceptionally comfortable
  • Control pad is easy to misfire in certain modes, Possible to accidentally power the headphones up or down because of swiveling earcup controls, Digital signal processing is not for purists
  • The Sennheiser PXC 550 headphones deliver excellent Bluetooth audio and noise cancellation in a feature-packed—if occasionally problematic—design...

  • If there's been any guiding principle for Sennheiser's approach to the high-end audio market, it's been that you don't have to be an audiophile to want genuinely good sound. The PXC 550 Wireless embody this sentiment to a tee. While they're a little on th...

  • Familiarity will aid enjoyment of the PXC 550s. The controls are unintuitive to a new user, but if you digest the full manual they certainly deliver an excellent sound. Play with the many EQ options, but always compare the results with flat performance, b...
